Privacy Policy
The short version. We collect what we need to run Deewa: your account details, what you post, your coin activity, and some device and usage information. We don't sell your personal information and we don't show third-party ads. You can delete your account in Settings at any time, and you can email us for a copy of your data. Deewa is for people aged 13 and over.
1. What we collect

Information collected automatically

2. How we use it
- To run Deewa: create your account, show feeds, clubs, messages, rooms and clips, process coins, unlocks and memberships, keep your coin history, and award badges, trophies and reward points.
- To keep Deewa safe: verify email addresses, check clip authenticity, review reports, prevent fraud, spam, vote manipulation and abuse, enforce our Terms, and age-restrict 18+ clips.
- To communicate: send notifications you've turned on (for example replies to your posts, or when your pick reaches #1), service emails such as verification, and replies to your messages.
- To improve Deewa: understand which features work, fix crashes, and plan new features, using analytics and diagnostics.
- To meet legal duties: comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and keep records we must keep.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for third-party advertising.
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we rely on: performing our contract with you (running the Service); our legitimate interests (safety, fraud prevention, improving Deewa); your consent (for example optional notifications, which you can withdraw at any time); and legal obligations.
3. What other users can see
Your display name, @handle, avatar, cover image, bio, badges, club and public posts, comments, clips, reactions and votes are visible to other users. Direct messages are visible to the people in the conversation. Your email address, age range, country, coin history and clip technical details are not shown to other users.
4. Service providers
These companies process information for us, under their own security and privacy terms, only to provide their service:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, Analytics, Crashlytics, Hosting): accounts, data storage, backend processing, notifications, analytics and diagnostics.
- Google Cloud Vision: checks a few frames of uploaded clips for watermarks and logos from other apps.
- Google Play: payments for coins and, when offered, subscriptions.
- Google Sign-In: if you choose to sign in with Google.
- LiveKit: live audio for voice rooms, watch parties and fan meetings. Audio is streamed live and is not recorded by this feature.
- The Movie Database (TMDb): show and movie details and posters. Your phone requests these directly from TMDb, so TMDb receives your IP address. Deewa uses the TMDb API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDb.
- Google Gemini API: when you use an AI-powered feature (such as the AI assistant or AI translation, where available), the text you send to that feature is processed by Google to produce the answer.
5. When we share information
- With the service providers above.
- With other users, as described in section 3.
- When the law requires it, or to protect the safety, rights or property of our users, the public or Deewa, for example reporting child sexual abuse material to the authorities.
- If Deewa is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.
- With your permission.
6. How long we keep it
- While your account is open, we keep your information so the Service works.
- When you delete your account (Settings > Delete account), we delete at once your profile, wallet and coin balance, coin history, @handle, notifications, push-notification tokens, Tidbit results and public badge record. Records of real-money purchases from Google Play are kept as receipts, for refunds, disputes, tax and accounting. Content you shared with others, such as posts, comments, clips and messages, is not removed automatically at this time. Delete it before deleting your account, or email us and we will remove it.
- Unverified accounts are deactivated after 7 days and may be deleted after 30 days, in the same way.
- Backups and logs are kept for a limited time and then overwritten. We keep information longer only when the law requires it or to deal with fraud, abuse or a dispute.
7. Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile at any time in the app.
- Notifications: turn each type on or off in Settings, or in your phone's settings.
- Delete your account in Settings.
- Access, copy, correct or delete: email deewaapp@gmail.com. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to or restrict some processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data protection authority. We'll answer within the time the law requires, and we won't treat you differently for using these rights. We may need to confirm it's really you first.
8. Teens and children
Deewa is not for children under 13, and sign-up stops if someone says they are under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we delete the account. Users aged 13 to 17 can't see clips marked 18+. If you're a parent or guardian and think your child under 13 has an account, email us.
9. Security
We use encryption in transit, access rules that let each user read only their own private data, and server-side checks for coins and purchases. No system is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password.
10. International transfers
Deewa is run using Google Cloud servers, which may be in the United States or other countries. Your information may be processed outside your country. Where the law requires, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the standard contractual clauses our providers offer.
11. Regional notices
United States (including California). In the last 12 months we collected the categories described in section 1 (identifiers, commercial information, internet and app activity, approximate location as country, and user content), for the purposes in section 2. We don't sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. California residents may request to know, correct or delete their personal information by emailing us.
EEA, UK and Switzerland. You have the rights listed in section 7. Deewa is the controller of your personal information.
12. Changes
We'll post any update here with a new version number and effective date. If a change is material, we'll tell you in the app and, where required, ask you to accept it before you continue.
